Lucky Number Slevin

Killing. Blood. Lots of killing. But, a good movie. It was another fast moving, psychological kind of mystery, with great acting and fun dialogue. Lucy Liu impressed me. She carried it a few times.
The movie was dark and funny. So I'll leave it at that.

  1. After watching such a unique movie as Brick (see review below), it was surprising to see a movie that was actually not so dissimilar in several ways. Like Brick, Slevin also is overtly influenced by the Dashel Hamet and film noir style. Unlike Brick, Slevin takes its style a little less seriously and sometimes plays the comedy to borderline parody. That being said however, Slevin is serious movie at its core and bookends the lighter middle of the movie with a much heavier beginning and ending. The plot is convoluted, but the writers/editors take care to make sure that everything has its purpose and place by the time the movie is over. Overall, Lucky Number Slevin was a very good, entertaining movie. I also think that Slevin could make a good name for a dog.
