Frost/Nixon

This one had a long, slow start. I was a little put off by the make up and how the characters were put together to look almost theatrical to me, but I do cut them some slack since they were portraying specific, and recent historical people. The person who played Frost did an excellent job and the guy who played Nixon seemed to warm up to it. Or maybe I warmed up to him. Either way, about one third to the end, it picked up and went out with a bang. The film really captured some great moments, emotions, and psyches.
This was a Groovy Movie Monday flick.

  1. I really appreciated this movie for two reasons. First, they were able to genuinely make a compelling story from source material that was not exactly high drama on its face. But the movie found the drama. What was pleasantly surprising for me, however, was that the drama was found in an unexpected place. It was not a straight ahead showdown between interviewer and interviewee. Rather, it was about two people who ironically needed one another to challenge each other so that they could achieve what they needed. They needed entirely different things from one another, but no less important. Frost was fighting for his future and Nixon for his past. Great human drama, even if they may have taken a little bit of liberty on the behind the scenes dialogue.
